Thanksgiving: part 2

It feels so weird that Thanksgiving was only last week.  It's sunny and pretty warm here in Boston this week.

What?!

It contributes to the feeling that all that turkey and gravy and potatoes feels like it was forever ago... it's like Summer here, and not a day away from December.
I'm not sure what's happening...

Thanksgiving Day was so wonderful and happy. My Mom, Dad, sister + husband all together was soooo much fun.
We don't have very many traditions. just a few:
we play a Korean game called "yut" (pronounced "yoot")
my dad cooks the turkey
i do the potatoes
Yunnie does the stuffing, gravy, random stuff.
then we just improvise after that.

This year, because we had a new member to the family, we changed things up a little bit:
we made pies!!
Nelson made one and I made one:
the battle of:
traditional apple [Nelson] vs. layered pumpkin toffee cheesecake [Me]
we voted... Nelson's won.
it's ok. we established that because we're married, if one wins, so does the other. :)
We also played games and games of Pounce [about 15 games......]
we've kind of always been big fans of the game. and my husband agreed to it (which includes a lot of cheating strategy) back on that lovely April day. Thanks, love.

a happy, happy Thanksgiving.

  1. Ginnie! Your pregnant!!!
I'm excited to see your cute pregnant self in a couple of weeks.

Pumpkin Toffee Cheesecake sounds totally divine. It surprised me that apple won because...c'mon cheesecake! But it made me proud that Nels made apple because it's what my dad does.

Nelson, I have to say you look super handsome and strong in all these pictures.

  2. Correction: "traditional mouth-watering hot apple with golden brown butter flake crust with vanilla ice cream to the side and a cool glass of milk pie [Nelson] vs. pumpkin cheese pie [Me]"

    :)

Oh, and the "strategy" is not referring to getting married but to the card game Pounce.

  3. Ginnie the first time I taught my family 'pounce' was Costa Rica, 2003. The cheating was so bad I gave up. I hope it works this time...I LOVE that game.

    I agree...pumpkin toffee cheesecake. Sounds divine :)
